Description

To foster a successful learning environment, teacher planning should take into account how students’ brains work and how they learn. This resource provides a range of teaching practices to engage and motivate students and prevent sources of demotivating frustration.

The book supports FSL teachers in planning a balanced program of student-centred learning that interconnects metacognitive thinking, listening, speaking, writing and reading skills, as well communication strategies and cultural competencies.

It contains:

  • Opportunities for student-centred planning
  • Suggestions for explicit teaching, examples of assessment activities, charts, and graphics
  • A series of questions to discuss with colleagues found in the FSL Book Club at the end of each chapter

Each grade level has five (5) stand-alone units. A unit consists of a Student Module and a complete Teacher’s Resource Guide. Units can be purchased separately or together.

The Teacher’s Resource Guide is packaged with a DVD-ROM and a 7-year web access to all program components: the digital Student Module, digital Teacher’s Guide, and multimedia resources.
